The Town of Bridgewater is currently seeking a Guest Services Attendant to join our Team at the DesBrisay Museum.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Provides front-of-house services and supports the Friends of the DesBrisay Society (Friends) with gift shop operations. Provides basic interpretation of exhibits and collection to enrich patrons’ experience and education. The position also assists with basic collection management, and archival research in response to patron queries. General promotion of the Bridgewater and surrounding areas and helps with planned activities taking place with the museum.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Funding is being applied for through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible applicants must be 15-30 years of age at the start of employment and meet eligibility requirements.
- Experience or education in history, museum or archival studies, education, community development, communications, or related field is desired.
- Effective communication skills, especially writing and reading comprehension
- Customer service skills
- Familiar with local culture, including an interest in regions history and heritage
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Must complete Occupational Health & Safety training provided by employer.
Certification:
- First Aid/CPR (to be provided by employer)
- WHMIS (to be provided by employer)
- Provides security and child abuse registry checks, as involves work with vulnerable people.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Non-union
- This is an 8-16-week position (May 6, 2025, to August 23, 2025). Please note the dates are based on grant approval and can be shifted to suit the candidate’s needs, (example: school schedule.)
- Operates out of the DesBrisay Museum (130 Jubilee Rd) and occasionally from Town Hall (60 Pleasant Street).
- Regular hours of work will be approximately 35 hours per week and are subject to a schedule and may include days/evenings, some holidays, and weekends.
