About the Role
Under the supervision of the Director of Community Development, this position performs professional planning work and provides technical assistance and information to staff and the public related to the implementation and realization of the objectives of the Town’s Municipal Planning Strategy. This position is responsible for leading other related planning initiatives, as determined by the Director. Current strategic initiatives of Town Council include the following: Public Transit Expansion, regional growth management, Bridgewater Business Park expansion, infrastructure charges, park activation and improvements, and the Housing Action Plan/Affordable Housing. This role will also assist with the coordination of the 5-year review process of the Town’s planning documents – the Municipal Planning Strategy, Land Use By-law and Subdivision By-law – as required by regulation.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Community/Urban Planning or a related field is required (Master’s level preferred);
- Three (3) years of work experience in a professional planning or community development office;
- Suitable combination of education and experience may be considered;
- Ability to demonstrate a general knowledge of municipal government operations is an asset;
- Eligibility to become a Licensed Professional Planner as per the NS Professional Planners Act is required.
- GIS mapping experience is an asset.
Terms of Employment
- Non-unionized, permanent position
- $78,451- $100,865, per year, based on qualifications
- 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday).
