About the Roles
The Labourer I (Public Works) position is a non-technical general labour position which performs municipal works duties as required to maintain and improve municipal infrastructure.
The Labourer I (Parks) position is a general labourer position with a focus on maintaining the Town's parks, trails, and greenspaces.
Seasonal Labourers may be recalled during lay-off periods for winter snow clearing work, as needed.

Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred);
- Post-secondary education in a related field (asset).
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license (required)
- First-aid (required, but may be supplied by employer)
- WHMIS (required, but may be supplied by employer)
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in construction or a related field is required.
- Previous experience with landscaping, turf or sportsfield maintenance
- Previous experience with traffic control/ flagging is an asset
Terms of Employment
- Wage: $20.11/hr
- Status: Unionized (CUPE, Local 1092)
- Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm). Overtime as required. Seasonal (April – December annually).
- Base of operations is the Public Works Garage or Former Bridgewater Memorial Arena.
- Work is physically demanding, and the incumbent must be capable of meeting these demands including (but not limited to) standing, walking, climbing, crouching/bending, lifting, pushing/pulling, etc.
- Work is mainly outdoors, and the incumbent may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including working in the heat/cold and inclement weather.
