ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Process Analyst plays a key role in departmental process improvement initiatives and improving operational efficiency. This will be facilitated by analyzing business processes, identifying opportunities for optimization, and delivering a variety of business processes and system solutions. The Business Process Analyst will follow the Town’s approved IT policies and procurement processes and support the Town during implementation of recommendations. The Business Process Analyst reports to the Director of Finance. This role bridges business and technology, by helping teams work smarter, reduce manual effort, and enhancing employee and resident experiences.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Map and document current workflows and business processes through stakeholder collaboration including interviewing staff.
- Identify bottlenecks, manual processes, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization across workflows, including complexity, change impact, and risk.
- Recommend simplified, scalable future‑state processes aligned with business goals to management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and establish measurable performance indicators.
- Set up software solution demonstrations to evaluate options that address recommended improvements.
- Assist with procurement of software and any related hardware and peripherals including specifications, evaluate responses.
- Build and configure automated workflows using chosen tools such as Copilot, Laserfiche, SharePoint or other tools that reduce manual work, improve accuracy, quality and accelerate turnaround times.
- Identify where AI can augment or accelerate existing processes within Town and MJSB policies and guidelines.
- Create prompts, templates, and workflows leveraging generative AI, Agentic Intelligence and copilots.
- Work closely with Departments to understand their needs and translate them into clear automation and optimization requirements.
- Collaborate with Municipal Joint Services Board IT Support Services where applicable for new software and processes, network requirements, system requirements, support and other relevant implementation requirements and to ensure successful integration and adoption.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field.
- Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) certification considered an asset.
- Professional development training in change management and/or project management is considered an asset.
- First Aid/CPR (to be provided by employer).
- WHMIS (to be provided by employer).
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-5 years of experience in business process mapping, process improvement, requirements gathering, gap analysis, business analysis, and automation.
- Experience in change management is considered an asset.
- Experience with project management is considered an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to design, build, and maintain automated workflows.
- Experience with AI platforms, automation tools, data management such as Copilot, SharePoint and Laserfiche.
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
- Training in business process mapping (BPM).
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Permanent, full-time, non-union position.
- Annual Salary - $70,831 - $91,068 (Grade 4), commensurate with experience.

- Defined Benefit Pension Plan - PSSP
- Regular hours - Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours per week). Work outside of regular office hours is required to meet operational demands.
- This position may be required to attend emergency management training and be employed as part of a Town of Bridgewater emergency management response effort.
- Position operates out of the Town Hall (60 Pleasant Street).
